How Georgian VAT verification works

In Georgia, value added tax is დღგ (DghG), standard rate 18%, administered by the Revenue Service (შემოსავლების სამსახური). Companies use a 9-digit identification code. Citizen sole traders use the 11-digit personal number as the business tax number. There is no public check digit, so VIESAC does not reject a number on a checksum.

Georgia is outside the EU VAT system, so the number cannot be checked in EU VIES. VIESAC queries the public taxpayer registry on rs.ge. VALID means the record is active and the VAT-payer flag is yes. A found taxpayer who is not a VAT payer is INVALID. Bulk CSV checks, the REST API, and monitoring use the same registry.

Questions about Georgian VAT numbers

What formats does this tool accept?

A 9-digit identification code, for example GE204854595, or an 11-digit personal number. Spaces and the GE prefix are optional.

When is a number shown as VALID?

VALID means the Revenue Service registry returned an active taxpayer who is marked as a VAT payer. An active taxpayer who is not a VAT payer, or a number that is not in the registry, is not valid for VAT.

Can I verify a Georgian VAT number in EU VIES?

No. Georgia is not an EU member state and is not covered by EU VIES. Georgian numbers are checked in the Revenue Service taxpayer registry. VIESAC runs that lookup and can store an audit PDF.

Does the quick check show the company name?

No. This quick check confirms the format and the registry result. The legal name from the Revenue Service is stored on the audit certificate, not in this preview.
