Lithuania EORI Number Validator (Lietuvos muitinė — MDAS / LT)
Validate Lithuanian Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) numbers directly against official customs registries. Verify whether a Lithuanian LT EORI number is valid and active for import, export, MDAS customs declarations, Port of Klaipėda container shipping, and EU cross-border trade.
What is a Lithuanian EORI number (LT) and who needs one?
A Lithuanian EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) is a unique customs code issued by Lietuvos muitinė (Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania) to companies, sole proprietors, and legal entities engaging in customs activities across Lithuania and the European Union customs territory.
Under Union Customs Code (UCC) Article 9, holding an active LT EORI number is mandatory for customs clearance when trading goods with non-EU countries. In Lithuania, this is vital for containerized cargo moving through the ice-free Port of Klaipėda (Klaipėdos jūrų uostas), air freight via Vilnius Airport (VNO) and Kaunas Airport (KUN), and transit traffic at EU external land borders (Medininkai and Kybartai). Without an active EORI, declarations cannot be processed in Lithuania's national customs systems: MDAS (Customs Declaration Processing System) and IDAIS.
Lithuanian EORI vs. Lithuanian Company Code (Įmonės kodas) & PVM
Businesses operating in Lithuania must understand how the registration code, VAT number, and customs EORI number interact:
Lithuanian Company Code and PVM (VMI / Registrų centras)
Assigned by the State Enterprise Centre of Registers (Registrų centras) and State Tax Inspectorate (VMI). Legal entities receive a 9-digit company code. While intra-EU trade uses the PVM code (e.g. LT100000000000), having a tax number does not automatically activate customs permissions.
Lithuanian EORI Number (Lietuvos muitinė / EU EOS)
Activated specifically for external customs clearance. For Lithuanian corporations, it consists of LT followed by the 9-digit company code (e.g. LT123456789). The entity must register with Lietuvos muitinė so that the record is synchronized with the central EU EOS database for use in MDAS.
Lithuanian businesses apply for EORI registration electronically through the Customs portal (BAP / LITAR) or at territorial customs offices. Registration is free of charge.
Baltic Maritime Hub and Intermodal Transport
The Port of Klaipėda serves as a primary intermodal gateway linking the Baltic sea lanes with rail and road freight corridors. Pre-validating Lithuanian EORI numbers prevents clearance holds at port terminals and logistics hubs across the Baltic region.
Frequently Asked Questions about Lithuanian EORI Numbers
Is a Lithuanian EORI number the same as the Lithuanian company code?
For Lithuanian legal entities, the EORI number is formed by prefixing the 9-digit company code (įmonės kodas) with LT (e.g. LT123456789). However, the number must be formally registered and activated with Lietuvos muitinė.
Can I validate a Lithuanian EORI number by entering just the 9-digit company code?
Yes. If you enter the 9-digit company code without the country prefix, our validator prepends LT before querying official EU customs registries.
How and where do I apply for a Lithuanian EORI number?
Lithuanian companies apply online via the Lietuvos muitinė electronic portal (Bendro naudotojų valdymo portalas - BAP) or by submitting an application to their territorial customs office.
